District IV held the annual meeting on Saturday, April 28, 2007 in Mount Olive, hosted by the Wayne/Duplin  LO.  The meeting was held in the funky, new corporate headquarters of Andy's Pizza. Presiding officer was Linda McGehee, filling in for District IV chair Barbara Bernard.  There were no minutes available from the previous District meeting. The members appointed Michelle Evans, Avice Jackson, and Linda Karolak to do the audit for the 2006/2007 year.

In attendance  were 3 former state presidents, Linda McGehee, Verna Taylor, and Dr. Arlene McKay. Of the 6 local organizations in District IV, the following were represented: Gibsonville -none; Kinston-Lenoir - none; Triangle 4; Henderson 2; Raleigh 3; Wayne Duplin 7. The presidents or their representatives read their annual reports. Raleigh's report was presented by Helga Gutmann. 

Raleigh member Ellison Howard presided over the Young Careerist Presentations. We had two contestants. Dr. Hazel Richardson from the Triangle LO was the winner. Our YC candidate, Jamie Garcia, was very strong and the decision of the three judges was extremely close.

Caryl Sinfield, State President-elect, discussed the District Task Force Proposal. This proposal will be discussed further at the annual conference in June. The proposal calls for the elimination of District meetings and substitution of these meetings with regional training sessions to be held in Spring and Fall in  the Western, Central, and Eastern section of the state.

After a lunch, catered by the hosts, the meeting was adjourned and the participants could go into town to enjoy the Annual Mount Olive Pickle Festival.
