National Business Women’s Week®
Public Policy and Advocacy
October 17-21, 2011
To honor the contributions of working women and employers who support working women and their families, Business and Professional Women’s Foundation celebrated National Business Women's Week® (NBWW) during the third week of October.
We are pleased to share with you a letter from President Obama recognizing National Business Women’s Week. Here is the link to the letter that you may view.
National Business Women's Week® provides an opportunity to call attention to women entrepreneurs, facilitate discussions on the needs of working women, share information about successful workplace policies, and raise awareness of the resources available for working women in their communities.
WOMEN IN CHARGE
NBWW is a great opportunity to recognize and highlight the progress women have made as business owners and entrepreneurs. It is also a great opportunity to recognize women who exemplify personal career success. That is why BPW/Raleigh awards Career Woman of the Year during the month of October.
BPW/Raleigh Career Woman of the Year
We announced the 2010 BPW/Raleigh Career Woman of the Year in October, 2010. Congratulations to Joan Darling! It is
safe to say that without Joan Darling it might have been impossible for Katherine Bigelow and many other women to have had their careers. Joan is a true pioneer and has done much to shape both male and female directors over the years. To view the testimonial video shown during the presentation Click Here.

The BPW Career Woman of the Year was established to bring recognition and appreciation of the diverse contributions of women in the work force and in the community. It was established at the Club level to recognize the contribution of a woman's commitment to the BPW aims and objectives, as well as her personal and professional progress.
Club Awardees go on to enter the State Award program, which will be held at the BPW/NC State Conference.
