Paulette Norvel Lewis

 

Paulette Norvel Lewis was selected as the Regional Administrator of the U. S. Department of Labor’s Women’s Bureau, Region IV-Atlanta, GA in November of 2006.  Prior to this, she served for six years as Chief, Office of Special Initiatives and Demonstrations for the Department’s Employment and Training Administration where she had oversight responsibility for nearly 200 grants totaling over $400 million.  

 

Prior to coming to DOL, Ms. Lewis served for eight years as Regional Advocate for the U. S. Small Business Administration, also in the Atlanta region.  She owned her own consulting firm from 1986-93 and provided consulting and training services to private and public entities including Procter & Gamble, Premier Pizza, KPMG, Graphic Communications, The National Board of the YWCA, and The King Center. 

 

From 1972-1983, Ms. Lewis served as Chief Operating Officer for the Women’s Employment Division of the Recruitment and Training Program, Inc., a national executive placement agency which she co-founded in 1972.  After serving as the agency’s National Director from 1977 to 1981, she left to become Chief of Employee Development for the City of Atlanta.  From 1982-1986, she was Regional Director of Marketing for Calocerinos and Spina Consulting Engineers, a top 200 consulting engineering firm based in Syracuse, NY.

 

Paulette earned a B. A. in Education from Edgewood College of the Sacred Heart in Madison, Wisconsin, “cum laude”, has done graduate work in Business Management at Central Michigan University and is an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta (Class of 1981).  She is on the Community Leadership Advisory Council for St. Joseph’s Hospital; is a member of the Founding Board of the International Community School in Clarkston, Georgia; a founding member of SOAR, a mentoring organization for college women; and is a former Board Member of the Southeastern Employment and Training Association.  She has authored several articles on human resources development and is co-author of Stepping Up: Placing Women in Management Jobs.
